Fight Crime: Invest in Kids Tennessee is a bipartisan, nonprofit anti-crime
organization of more than 80 police chiefs, sheriffs, prosecutors, other law enforcement leaders
and violence survivors.
Our national office is in Washington, DC. We have other state offices in California, Illinois,
Maine, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania and Washington.
Our law enforcement leaders include the presidents of the Tennessee Sheriffs Association and the
Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police. Our membership includes Chiefs, Sheriffs and D.A.s, from
Tennessee's three Grand Divisions that represents a range of rural communities, small towns,
suburbs and major cities and counties.
Fight Crime: Invest in Kids Tennessee evaluates crime prevention strategies, informs the
public and policymakers about those findings, and urges investment in programs
proven effective by research. Our website is organized to focus attention on those strategies,
including high quality pre-kindergarten programs, prevention of child abuse and neglect,
after-school programs for children and teens, and interventions to get troubled kids back on
track. We do not fund or operate any direct service programs for children.
In its first two years, Fight Crime: Invest in Kids Tennessee has played an important role in a
range of issues from Head Start reauthorization to the Governor's expansion of Pre-K to efforts
at the federal and state levels to improve funding for programs that reduce child abuse and neglect
through in-home programs that assist at-risk parents.
Funding for Fight Crime: Invest in Kids Tennessee comes from private foundations, corporations
and individuals. Fight Crime: Invest in Kids Tennessee receives no funds from federal, state or
local governments.
