HOME VISITING TO PREVENT CHILD ABUSE AND CRIME: Fight Crime: Invest in Kids Ohio is committed to supporting sustained funding for Help Me Grow home visiting programs to help in the effort to prevent child abuse and neglect. In addition, we support the administration’s efforts to make home visitation Medicaid-eligible to serve more at-risk children and families.
PRE-KINDERGARTEN AND 3RD GRADE LITERACY: Fight Crime: Invest in Kids Ohio supports will continue to build awareness of the importance of early learning through high-quality pre-kindergarten programs in helping achieve literacy by 3rd grade. In addition, pre-k programs are a proven crime-prevention tool. We seek support from Governor Kasich and the legislature to build high-quality pre-k programs into the K-12 school system.
AFTER-SCHOOL AND OUT-OF-SCHOOL PROGRAMS: Fight Crime: Invest in Kids Ohio supports investments in after school and quality out of school programs. Out-of-school time is the prime time for juvenile crime. Quality programs can help prevent juvenile crime, while reinforcing learning.
SCHOOL DISCIPLINE : Fight Crime: Invest in Kids Ohio supports policies that promote proven programs that help ensure appropriate and effective school discipline, increase graduation rates, and reduce juvenile crime.
