Louisiana Chiefs Director Recognized as Champion for Children

Fabian Blache, Jr., head of LA chiefs’ assocation, shows commitment to helping children at risk of abuse and neglect

Fight Crime: Invest in Kids recognized Mr. Fabian Blache, Jr., Executive Director of the Louisiana Association of Chiefs of Police, for helping build legislative support for programs that can help prevent child abuse and neglect.

Membership Director Natasha D. O’Dell presented Director Blache with an award recognizing his service to law enforcement and Louisiana’s children at the summer conference of the Chiefs association.

As the head of Louisiana’s professional organization for police leaders, Director Blache personally distributed a letter from Louisiana chiefs to to each member of the state House and Senate, urging them to protect funding for programs designed to help prevent child abuse and neglect.

Director Blache expressed support on behalf of the chiefs in the state for the need to invest in the Nurse-Family Partnership program, which currently serves only 15 percent of the eligible population in the state.

Due in part to commitment and support from Louisiana’s law enforcement, the state legislature rejected cuts to funding for the critical program.

Fight Crime: Invest in Kids has over 100 members in Louisiana, including 73 chiefs.
