Illinois Law Enforcement Leaders Urge Governor and General Assembly To Restore and Protect Key Crime-Fighting Early Childhood Programs
Feb 18th 2010
As deliberations of the state’s FY 2011 budget begin, 129 Illinois law enforcement leaders sent a letter to Governor Quinn and Legislative Leaders urging that cuts to preschool and child abuse prevention programs be restored, and that the sunset date on Illinois’s Preschool for All legislation be removed. They also signed letters sent to Speaker of the House Michael Madigan, House Minority Leader Tom Cross, Senate President John Cullerton, and Senate Minority Leader Christine Radogno.
In the letter, the law enforcement leaders sent a clear message in support of preschool, child care, voluntary home-visiting, and other early childhood programs that help kids get the right start and prevent crime.
