Fight Crime: Invest in Kids Communications Intern Program

About the Organization: Fight Crime: Invest in Kids is a national, bipartisan, nonprofit anti-crime organization of more than 5,000 police chiefs, sheriffs, prosecutors, attorneys general and other law enforcement leaders and violence survivors.

We take a hard-nosed look at crime prevention strategies, inform the public and policymakers about those findings, and urge investments in programs proven effective by research. Our organization focuses on high-quality early education programs, prevention of child abuse and neglect, after-school programs for children and teens, and interventions to get troubled kids back on track. We do not fund or operate any direct service programs for children.

We are looking for eager undergraduate or recent graduates looking for internship experience in Washington, D.C. Fight Crime: Invest in Kids has established a one-semester internship program that offers one or two college students the opportunity to work closely with the organization's communications team on a variety of initiatives in support of programs that have proven to help children get the right start in life. During the past year the organization has continued to mobilize law enforcement leaders across the country to speak out of a number of critical issues ranging from support for pre-kindergarten programs to efforts to extend the child tax credit.

Ideal candidates should have an interest in current events, media communications or journalism.

Time Frame: Year Round. Applications accepted on a rolling basis.

This is an unpaid internship.

Intern is expected to work a minimum of 25 hours a week.
