Fight Crime: Invest in Kids Pennsylvania is a statewide, bipartisan,
nonprofit, anti-crime organization comprised of more than 200 police chiefs, sheriffs, district
attorneys, other law enforcement leaders and violence survivors.
Our mission is to help policymakers and the public understand and act on the knowledge
that among our most powerful weapons in the fight against crime and violence are public
investments in programs shown to prevent kids from ever becoming criminals.
Launched in January 2001, Fight Crime: Invest in Kids Pennsylvania is a state office
of Washington, D.C.-based Fight Crime: Invest in Kids, a national nonprofit organization
of more than 3,000 law enforcement leaders and violence survivors. Other state offices
are located in California, Illinois, Maine, Michigan, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Tennessee and Washington.
Fight Crime: Invest in Kids evaluates crime prevention strategies, informs the public and
policymakers about those findings, and urges investment in programs proven
effective by research. Our website is organized to focus attention on those strategies,
including high quality pre-kindergarten programs, prevention of child abuse and neglect,
after-school programs for children and teens, and interventions to get troubled kids back
on track. We do not fund or operate any direct service programs for children.
Funding for Fight Crime: Invest in Kids Pennsylvania comes from private foundations,
corporations and individuals. We receive no funds from federal, state or local governments.
