Fight Crime Invest in Kids California America must cut the pipeline that funnels young people into lives of crime and violence. We take a hard-nosed look at research on what keeps kids from becoming criminals and put that information in the hands of policy-makers and the public.

PRESCHOOL COST REPORT

New Report from Law Enforcement: California Families Priced out of Quality Preschool

Law Enforcement Leaders and Crime Victims say Public Safety Jeopardized By High Preschool Costs

Part-time preschool costs more than full-time CSU tuition; County data available

On Wednesday, March 8, 2006, Fight Crime: Invest in Kids California released a new report showing that high costs put quality preschool out of reach of most California working families. California's law enforcement leaders warn that high preschool costs jeopardize public safety.

The report, Paying the Price for the High Cost of Preschool in California, includes:

  • Statewide and County-level data on the high cost of preschool
  • County data showing how middle-income families are hardest hit by high costs
  • Evidence that quality preschool programs reduce crime
