We know from firsthand experience the toll that child abuse and neglect exacts on hundreds of thousands of children in the U.S. every year.  That’s why we have taken an in-depth look at the research on what really works to protect children from abuse and neglect, break the cycle of crime and violence and save taxpayers money.  Acting now to support what works can save money, prevent future violent crime and help keep the cycle of abuse and neglect from reaching the next generation.

Our report, called “A Shock to the Conscience,” provides an overview of the nationwide epidemic of child abuse and neglect and details one of the most effective approaches shown to reduce child abuse and neglect: coaching young parents through voluntary home-visiting. The report provides an overview of the number of children abused or neglected as well as the number of substantiated abuse or neglect fatalities from all 50 states.
